September 25th, 2021 | Autumn Equinox Herb Walk
$20 | Powell Butte in SE Portland
Celebrate the Fall Equinox, also called Mabon. This is the halfway point between the Summer and Winter Solstices and the beginning of Autumn!
We will go over the plants, herbs and trees on Powell Butte and learn about the edible and medicinal properties of the many native, invasive and naturalized plants in the Pacific NW.
Bring your curiosity, your rain gear (just in case), optional notebook and a willingness to connect with nature. Note: this will include light hiking outdoors in a green space. (Contact with accessibility questions as accommodations may be available.)

May 9th, 2021 | Beltane Herb Walk & Spring Celebration
$20 | Southeast Portland
Let’s gather, commune with the wild flowers and share knowledge. Beltane is a celebration from ancient times of the return of the light and the middle point between Spring Equinox and Summer Solstice. Learn about edible and medicinal plants in the Pacific NW.
Though commonly held on May Day (May 1st) Beltane can be celebrated on May 5th, also called Old Beltane. For more accessibility to this class, we will celebrate together that following weekend, on Sunday May 9th.

March 20th, 2021 | Spring Equinox Plant Walk
Our own Herbalist Tania Oceana and another local Herbalist Carly Thomasset will walk you around green city spaces in NE Portland where you’ll learn to identify trees, herbs and weeds (while masked and socially distanced)! 2pm-4pm.
Spaces limited to 10.
We will contact you at least 1 weeks prior to specify the exact location. See you then!
March 21st, 2020 | Spring Equinox and Urban Foraging
Join us on the celebratory first day of Spring! New plants and flowers are popping up all around Portland, and we’d love you to join us in meeting them. Class will start off in a classroom, where we enjoy some tea and chat about the botany basics. We’ll then set off into the NE Mississippi neighborhood.
Learn about plant identification, common uses and contraindications and to simply cultivate a new understanding of Portland’s Spring bounty!
October 26th, 2019 | Urban Foraging in the Fall
Portland, OR offers a wide variety of edible, medicinal, landscape and poison plants that don’t stop at the forest’s edge! Streets lined with beautiful trees, alleyways bursting with gigantic “weeds” and front yards dressed with culinary herbs make this city a perfect place for a plant lover to explore. Once you get to know these plants, you will see the city’s greenery as potential food, tea and medicine wherever you go.
Join local Herbalists Tania Hays and Carly Thomasset this Autumn in this misty rain-forest of a city for an urban plant walk.
We will review basic botany terms, identification tools and the how, when and why of urban foraging. Then we will roam around a lovely Boise/ Mississippi neighborhood.
WHEN | October 26, 2019, 11am-1pm
WHERE | Cross streets of N Failing and N Borthwick. We will start at a small indoor classroom but please also come prepared to walk in the weather, rain or shine.
INVESTMENT | $15-25 Sliding Scale. To make class accessible we ask each student to choose payment based on their personal circumstance, no questions asked. We accept cash, check or venmo. No one turned away for lack of funds.
